Dignity Believer Campaign
Hold your beliefs deeply. Treat everyone with dignity.
“I’m a Dignity Believer. My faith calls me to honor the dignity of every person.”
An ecumenical and interfaith invitation for people of faith to make a personal commitment to dignity — and to help their congregations become places where dignity is practiced, especially when we disagree.
Three Commitments
Recognize. Practice. Invite.
You don’t have to minimize your convictions or avoid hard differences. The challenge is to practice dignity consistently — in your relationships, your congregation, and your community.
1
RECOGNIZE
Recognize dignity in everyone.
Treat every person with respect and compassion, including those whose beliefs, experiences, or perspectives differ from your own. Dignity begins with the conviction that every person has inherent worth.
2
PRACTICE
Practice dignity, especially when you disagree.
Listen with curiosity, speak with humility, and stand firm in your convictions without demeaning others. Help make your faith community a place where differences can be engaged respectfully and everyone is treated with dignity.
3
INVITE
Invite others to lead and live with dignity.
Encourage faith leaders to model dignity in their words, teaching, leadership, and relationships. Invite others to become Dignity Believers and help your congregation become a Dignity Community.
Recognize dignity.
Practice dignity.
Invite others into dignity.
Hold your beliefs deeply, practice dignity consistently, and help build faith communities where disagreement does not become contempt.

A Dignity Community is a commitment to ongoing practice — not a certification that a community has reached a particular standard.

02Create opportunities for respectful dialogue across differences.
03Address conflict without demeaning or dehumanizing others.
04Extend dignity beyond your walls through relationships, service, and engagement with neighbors.
